Our professional Shiatsu training courses are fully registered by The Shiatsu Society (UK) and therefore follow their core curriculum (500 hours over 3 years), Code of Ethics and taught by registered teachers.

Details of Year 3, final year:

2011-12
12 Weekends plus 1 Residential (5 days) per year.

2012-13
The course runs over 12 weekends, plus 2 Clinic Days, 10am–5.30pm; and a 5-day residential amounting to 201.5 hours.

Why do this course?
These courses are for those who are interested in developing themselves and their skills in Shiatsu Practice, and Oriental Theory, integrating anatomy and pathology towards full Practitioner status.

Syllabus

The course will include:
*Masunaga Zen Shiatsu theory including the Zen Masunaga meridian pathways.
*Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) review including the traditional meridians, acupressure points and functions. An introduction to The Six Divisions.
*Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology in line with the core curriculum requirements of The Shiatsu Society (UK).
*Practice Management skills.
*Counselling and Communication skills.
*Advanced Shiatsu techniques including Movement Shiatsu and the Six Forms of Touch, Shiatsu during pregnancy, Shiatsu for babies and children, Quantum Shiatsu techniques and principles.
*Specialised conditions linked to Pathology.
*Diagnosis and Observation; review and consolidation of techniques.
*Food and Nutrition.
*Clinic Days for practicing on the public; giving recommendations.
*Self-Development and Personal Growth.
*Year 3 will also benefit from invited guest teachers, and a residential
*Home Study approx 15 hours per month.

The course will be a balanced mixture of theoretical and practical components, with a focus on experiential learning. Practical skills learned in class will be reinforced with written and practical homework set between weekends and regular constructive criticism is given.

Individual tutorials are offered half way through the course where you will get direct one to one feedback on your development. Assessments are held at the end of the year (practical and written).

Eligibility

Students will have completed the previous year with The Shiatsu School, Edinburgh (or a recognised equivalent course), or demonstrate that they have reached the necessary level for entry. A willingness to participate and experiment, in addition to demonstrating commitment to the course is important.

Fees include all teaching, assessment and venue fees for one year

2011-12 Fees:
Payment is by a non-refundable deposit of £160.00 payable in advance; followed by 10 monthly installments of £157.00 from September 2011 to July 2012 inclusive. Students who have completed year 2 at other Shiatsu schools in Britain or abroad, are welcome.
The total cost for year 3 is £1,887.00.

Extra costs: Books, 8 professional Shiatsu sessions, and, if course times are missed, tutorials (1 per teaching day). A sum of £50 will be payable towards the Residential accommodation and food costs, half way through 2011.

2012-13 fees:
To be announced. Deposit £160 (£110 if paid in advance by 30 April 2012). Then 13 payments from September 2012 - August 2013

Extra costs: Books, 8 professional Shiatsu sessions, and, if course times are missed, tutorials (1 per teaching day at an extra cost of £38 per hour or less if shared). Extra sums may be payable for residential costs towards Congress and residential.
