Shiatsu Practitioner Training - 3 year course
The Shiatsu School Edinburgh Shiatsu Practitioner Training - 3 year, part-time course
The Shiatsu School Edinburgh provides high quality teaching for those who want to learn Shiatsu.
The School is based at The Healthy Life Centre.
The Shiatsu School Edinburgh teachers: Cynthia Shuken, Lucy Trend, Tamsin Grainger, Liz Bibby, Jane Groombridge (not shown in photo)
We have been teaching Shiatsu for 12 years now and have trained over 70 practitioners. We are all fully trained Shiatsu practitioners ourselves, and the core teachers have recognised teaching qualifications.
Becoming a fully qualified Shiatsu therapist takes 3 years of part-time training. This is high quality training that equips the student with practical knowledge of meridians and points, Oriental medicine theory, diagnostic skills, and the ability to manage the wide range of symptoms and conditions that clients seek support for.
The One Year course is the first year of the full practitioner training and also a stand-alone year for those who are interested in learning Seated Shiatsu and/or Shiatsu for family and friends. You will not be qualified as a professional Shiatsu practitioner at the end of this year, but you will have a greater understanding of yourself and be able to give family and friends a really satisfying and relaxing 1 hour Shiatsu massage. Completing this one year course allows you to move to Year 2 of the 3-year professional Shiatsu training course.
Year 2 Japanese Bodywork Diploma is the second year of the full practitioner training, and you can also do this year for self development if you have already completed year 1. During this year, with agreement from your tutor, you can start to work with members of the public for a donation of £20, thereby earning something towards the costs of the course.
Year 3 Shiatsu Practitioner training is the final year of the practitioner training and although it is still part-time, with courses held mostly at weekends, it is an intensive year designed to prepare the student for professional practice. You will be continuing to work with members of the public under full supervision from your tutor, again offering your Shiatsu for a donation of £25 for the hour.
