Integrative Psychotherapy, Psychoanalysis and Counselling

Integrative Psychotherapy, Psychoanalysis and Counselling

Integrative psychotherapy is the use of psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, coaching and counselling skills from a wide range of schools of therapy, as needed by the individual client. Stuart began his training by completing a Diploma in psychoanalysis, counselling and hypnotherapy requiring over 200 assessed and supervised cases. He followed this by training in person centred counselling, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, and Level 4 ASET certificates in Psychotherapy and Integrated Therapeutic Counselling.

Integrative work means bringing in all the strands of western psychoanalysis, western psychology and eastern psychology into a holistic therapy package to meet the needs of the individual client, responsive to their individual and changing needs. This often involves “homework” between sessions drawn from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) or eastern methods such as Naikan. This helps to ensure progression and change between as well as during sessions.

As well as general issues, Stuart specialises in managing anger, depression and Bipolar, as well as the effects of NEAD and Dyslexia related stress. He works with couples and individuals and is experienced in working with persons of most sexual preferences without discrimination but recognising subtle differences in presentation.

Stuart is a NCP and NACHP registered psychotherapist and counsellor and an IPP registered psychologist.

Sessions are available at The Healthy Life Centre, and more information can be read about Stuart's service at www.edinburghpsychotherapycounselling.co.uk
