Hypnotherapy and NLP

Hypnotherapy & NLP

Hypnotherapy is a well established and gentle behavioural change process involving a state of relaxation midway between awake and asleep.

During hypnotherapy the hypnotic state feels a little like lying in bed on a Sunday morning, not awake, not asleep, just very relaxed. During that state you are aware of what is happening, what is said and you remain in control.

There are many forms of hypnotic process that can be used in the hypnosis state, including visualisation, suggestion, story telling, analysis and complex metaphor. All of these aim to gently modify perception and behaviour towards the goals defined by the client.

Hypnotherapy should not be used to force change, and is best used together with counselling or psychotherapy, so as to be enabling and liberating, rather than authoritarian.

NLP or Neuro Linguistic Programming is a modelling method derived from the study and modelling of excellence, including that of hypnotherapy and forms of cognitive psychology and counselling. It can be used alongside hypnotherapy as a tool that is often taught to the client for use at home. Stuart is qualified as an NLP practitioner ( ASET Level 3 NLP) and has written Level 4 and 5 training courses in NLP practice.

As well as general issues, Stuart specialises in managing anger, depression and Bipolar, as well as the effects of NEAD and Dyslexia related stress. Hypnotherapy is often used for self esteem, confidence, achieving goals, phobias and sports related hypnosis.
