Ayurdevic Medicine
Ayurveda, the science of long life, stems from the great Vedic civilization of India and stands as the most ancient and comprehensive health system. It is based on the timeless knowledge for enlivening the inner beauty. Ayurveda accepts the principle that everything in this universe is made-up of the Pancha Mahabuthas or five basic elements - Akash (Space), Vayu (Air), Agni (Fire), Jal (Water) and Prithvi (Earth).
Ayurveda doesn't merely treat symptoms, but treats the person as a whole, the body, mind and soul, making it not just a healthcare system but a life style adopted to maintain balance and harmony within our existence.
Ayurvedic approach for the treatment of a disease consists of two major procedures viz Samshodhana (Curative) Chikitsa (therapy) and Samshamana (Palliative) Chikitsa.
Why Ayurveda?
We live exuberantly only by achieving balance of our four fundamental aspects of life or Purusharthas - Dharma, which is duty, Artha, material gain; kama, sensual desires and Moksha, spiritual liberation. These facets fundamentally rest on health - the state of perfect balance between our physical, mental and emotional states. Owing to modern life style and highly polluted environment we have lost this balance, resulting ourselves prone to various ailments. But it is possible to restore that lost balance and feel truly alive, we just have to turn back to the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda.
